Comparing Zelda Breath of the Wild with Studio Ghibli

►While playing The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild, I have found myself thinking over and over again – ‘this is straight out of Studio Ghbli’. Today I am presenting a video which compares some aspects from Studio Ghibli movies such as Princess Mononoke, Laputa Castle in the sky and Spirited Away. Enjoy. 🙂

  • When ever I see the kudana in Princess Mononoke I always instinctively go "YAHAHA!" it was funny at first, but its gotten to be a real problem.

  • I personally would have loved it if "Breath of the Wild" also had a similar story to "Princess Mononoke." With Link taking Ashitaka's role and the Sheikah taking the place of the Emishi people. And the Yiga clan taking place of Jigo's ("Jiko-bō" in the original Japanese version) mercenary group. I keep imagining Link on his horse taking Ashitaka's place when he fights those samurai at the beginning of the film

  • Inspiration for Breath of the Wild seems to be
    40% first Legend of Zelda
    10% Elder Scrolls 5 Skyrim
    30% Studio Ghbli films
10% rest of the Zelda games
    10% misc

  • I played breath of the wild before watching any ghibli movie. Then I saw spirited away and felt that indescribable feeling.

  • I loved your video, I too believe there are similarities to breath & Princess Mononoke! So much so I made a video on the master cycle zero being inspiration to Kaneda’s bike in Akira

  • Just want to add that I started this video in the beginning of April. I wrote the script and recorded then. However, I stopped working on it almost immediately because of exams. I only recently remembered that I was making this video and finished off the editing. Just want to make that clear, in case anything seems off.
